Dear colleagues and friends,
I am working on Component 3 of National Board Certification in Library Media. I missed this year's certification by .25 and my lowest score was on Component 3. In this component, I have to submit two videos teaching 2 different lessons and two different teaching strategies at the Secondary Level. They want to see the knowledge of students and that the students are engaged. In my last video submission, I collaborated with the Art teacher and we curated knowledge on the origins of Needle Felting. The students were engaged in actual needle felting, which is part of my Maker Space now. In my second video, we bound books to use as a journal. The students were binding the books in the video. I may have just too much going on which causes the goal to be unclear.
Do any of you have suggestions on lessons for Secondary Library Media? I am using this holiday season to brainstorm lessons. I have thought of doing a lesson about Analyzing Bias in News Media...What have you done? What teaching strategies do you prefer?
Thanks so much for the help!
