The mission of the Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT) is to provide a forum for discussion of activities, programs, and problems of instruction in the use of libraries; to contribute to the education and training of librarians for library instruction; to promote instruction in the use of libraries as an essential library service, and to serve as a channel of communication on library instruction between the ALA divisions, ALA and ACRL committees, state clearinghouses, Project LOEX, other organizations concerned with instruction in the use of libraries, and members of the Association.

Our information environment has changed in significant ways in the decade since the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education debuted, and over the last few years a dedicated taskforce has been focused on reviewing the current framework and proposing revisions. As the release date for the draft grows near, ACRL's Student Learning and Information Literacy Committee (SLILC) would like to invite all interested community members to join an event that will offer an opportunity to hear some of the reasons and process for upcoming framework revisions, as well as a chance to begin thinking about how these changes may affect your practice at a personal and institutional level.

Featuring a number of Framework Revision Task Force Members, this event will allow you to learn a bit about the ongoing process and then convene in break out sessions to engage in thoughtful conversations about the possible impacts, challenges and opportunities these changes might bring. Each breakout room will have a taskforce member to serve as a content expert, but the goal is to allow a space to begin to discuss as a community the ways in which revisions to the framework may prompt shifts in teaching, assessment, and individual and programmatic collaborations. Our goal is for attendees to leave the session knowledgeable about the process that shaped the upcoming changes and beginning to reflect on how those shifts may shape their own practice.

The first part of the event, in which the taskforce discusses the process, will be recorded and shared with all those registered: for reasons of privacy, the breakout rooms will not be recorded. We hope to see many of you in this opportunity to discuss how we define and communicate the core ideas of our profession.
