The mission of the Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT) is to provide a forum for discussion of activities, programs, and problems of instruction in the use of libraries; to contribute to the education and training of librarians for library instruction; to promote instruction in the use of libraries as an essential library service, and to serve as a channel of communication on library instruction between the ALA divisions, ALA and ACRL committees, state clearinghouses, Project LOEX, other organizations concerned with instruction in the use of libraries, and members of the Association.

Please join us for another great LILi Show & Tell!
    When: Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 11:00 am Pacific | 1:00 pm Central | 2:00 pm Eastern
    Presenter: Stephanie Garrett
This presentation will explore how two powerful AI tools, Perplexity.ai and NotebookLM, can enhance the work of librarians, instructors, and students. We'll begin by examining Perplexity.ai, an AI trained on academic sources, and discuss effective prompting strategies that help research and reference librarians expand their access to high-quality, subject-specific materials from both open and academic web sources. Then, we'll turn to NotebookLM, a free tool for personal and academic use, focusing on how instructors can use it to increase student engagement with sources and leverage multiple modalities to improve learning outcomes. Together, these tools demonstrate how AI can support both academic research and student success.
A recording will also be available on the LILi Show & Tell webpage after the session.
We look forward to seeing you all!
    Respectfully,
    Kathy Dejnowski
    LILi Web Committee Chair
