The mission of the Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT) is to provide a forum for discussion of activities, programs, and problems of instruction in the use of libraries; to contribute to the education and training of librarians for library instruction; to promote instruction in the use of libraries as an essential library service, and to serve as a channel of communication on library instruction between the ALA divisions, ALA and ACRL committees, state clearinghouses, Project LOEX, other organizations concerned with instruction in the use of libraries, and members of the Association.

CFP: Library Instruction Together (LIT) 2025 Call for Proposals - Deadline Extended!

  • 1.  CFP: Library Instruction Together (LIT) 2025 Call for Proposals - Deadline Extended!

    Posted Mar 24, 2025 01:06 PM

The Library Instruction Together (LIT) Committee is extending the deadline for proposal submissions to Tuesday, April 1!

The 2025 LIT Conference will take place:

    ·  In-Person @ the Retreat on Friday, June 13, Nashville Public Library, Tennessee

    ·  Virtually on Zoom, on Wednesday, June 18

The theme for LIT this year is A SEAT AT ALL TABLES:

For the in-person Retreat, we are going to do things differently this year. We will be in one big room, listening, talking, and learning together, with opportunities to break out and branch off, but always coming back together. To that end, we are explicitly looking for proposals that emphasize active sessions, roundtables, and conversations. When considering your submission, think about how you can plan for 75-minute active sessions or plan a networking opportunity/roundtable for the Retreat.

For the virtual conference, standard, lecture-style presentations will still be considered.

The following topic areas are of specific interest to the Committee:

    • Rethinking place (Suburban, Urban, Rural)
    • Systemic gatekeeping
    • Sense of belonging & feeling valued as a resource on campus, in the building, in the institution, and/or by your community (or not feeling that way at all)
    • High school to college crossover / information literacy for emerging adulthood
    • Incorporating personal values as a worker in a system
    • Collective impact: Collaborating with communities inside and outside the library
    • Equitable instruction and workplaces
    • Scaling instruction

In addition to this theme, LIT 2025 also welcomes submissions that are relevant to library instruction more broadly. Please share with colleagues; we would love to see proposals from everyone for the Conference and/or Retreat!

Please submit your proposals here: https://forms.gle/1KQE8XpjLA3rzST86

LIT 2025 is FREE for ALL (though we appreciate donations)! There is no cost for the Retreat or Virtual Conference.
