ALA/ACRL-CJCLS Call For Proposals- ALA Annual 2024- Deadline September 18, 2023

  • 1.  ALA/ACRL-CJCLS Call For Proposals- ALA Annual 2024- Deadline September 18, 2023

    Posted Aug 28, 2023 10:55 AM

Greetings, colleagues, and apologies for cross-posting:

Information and learning ecosystems are dramatically changing, and we want to know how community college librarians are navigating these changes at your institution.

    • Are you addressing ChatGPT and other AI technologies in one-shot instruction sessions?
    • Are you effectively engaging students with library instruction based on the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy in your community college library?
    • How are you incorporating the Framework into your library's instruction program, assessment, or specific lesson plans?
    • Are you infusing Critical Information Literacy components into your instruction sessions or assessing SLOs in a new and creative way?
    • Perhaps Intellectual Freedom and First Amendment challenges have made their way to your institution. How are you handling those?
    • How are you advocating for your academic library and resources?

Please consider presenting your work at the 2024 ALA Annual Conference in San Diego, California as part of a panel sponsored by the Community and Junior College Libraries Section of ACRL.

The CJCLS is looking for all timely topical discussions of interest for community and junior college librarians and is not limited to instruction-based proposals. We are seeking community college librarians who are excited to share their innovative and practical approaches with the rest of us. This call for proposals is open to any community or junior college librarian.

The Proposal Deadline is Monday, September 18, 2023, 11:59PM. You can find proposal submission guidelines for ALA Annual 2024 here.

If you are interested or would like more information, please contact me, a CJCLS ALA 2024 Program Planning Committee member, or the Committee Chair, Regina Vitolo (regina....@lonestar.edu281-290-5250), before September 18. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

    Best regards,

CJCLS ALA 2024 Program Planning Committee
