Update from ALA Intellectual Freedom Committee

  • 1.  Update from ALA Intellectual Freedom Committee

    Hi all,

As the LHRT liaison to the ALA Intellectual Freedom Committee (IFC), I wanted to share a couple updates you all may be interested in.

ALA is hosting listening sessions on revising the Freedom to Read  statement, which are open to all ALA members. The Freedom to Read Statement is the best known of ALA's documents supporting the principles of intellectual freedom as embodied in the Library Bill of Rights.

The IFC is also seeking volunteer speakers for its speaker bureau. If interested in being added to the database of potential speakers, please fill out their intake form. I am not sure how long the information is kept or refreshed, but I can inquire if needed.

I'll be sure to keep you all updated as the meetings continue.

    Best,

    Michelle
