Here are two items that ALA officers requested be brought to your attention:
First:
the ALA Board statement on Hurricane Helene https://www.ala.org/news/2024/10/...
American Libraries: https://americanlibrariesmagazine.org/blogs/the-scoop/ala-releases-statement-on-helping-communities-affected-by-hurricane-helene/
Second:
As per the message below, the IFC requests feedback (I've zipped the attachments, let me know if you have issues opening it)
Dear ALA Round Table Leader:
On behalf of Intellectual Freedom Committee Chair Ray James, I am sharing the attached request for feedback from all of ALA's Round Tables. In anticipation of a new edition of The Intellectual Freedom Manual, the Intellectual Freedom Committee is in the process of reviewing and beginning to update all intellectual freedom-related documents as needed.
This is the first of several forthcoming requests to review updated Library Bill of Rights interpretations. Your leader and member feedback are important to the process, and we value your time.
Details about the feedback process are outlined in the enclosed memo and the relevant documents are attached to this message. Feedback is requested by Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Questions about the review may be directed to Chair Ray James (erayjames@gmail.com) or OIF Director Deborah Caldwell-Stone (dstone@ala.org).
Thank you in advance,
Aimee
