In 1989 Dr. Herbert S. White, former Dean at Indiana University (died 2024), wrote "The Danger of Political Polarization for Librarianship" in Library Journal. (attached).

Last night in writing for the series I've been posting-- Sesquicentennial Memories -1976-2026--I posted about Dr. White's career. In developing White's profile, I read his 1989 article.  In it he referenced the 1988 ALA Conference in New Orleans when Tip O'Neill was the keynote speaker. At the time ALA had members chair local arrangements and I was co-chair. Dr. White had something to say about that and as elections are soon, I thought it of interest.
