    Dear Colleagues,

I'm pleased to share that my summary of the August LHRT Reads with Michael Castleman (The Untold Story of Books) is available with no paywall.

In discussing the sources of his research for the book, spanning 44 years, Castleman mentioned Mike Shatzkin, a publishing legend who made many correct predictions about the digital future of books. Shatzkin passed away last fall, and I've included a tribute. Additionally, I've added brief notes about the "civilization of the book" which will be featured in an upcoming essay.

I would love to hear your thoughts and any questions you might have. Thank you for your attention.

    Best,

    Anita
