The Library History Round Table recently conducted an informal survey of members (and non-members) about its activities.
I am attaching a slide deck reporting some of the survey results. The full results are available by e-mailing me, Erik Nordberg, at enordber@utm.edu
Here are some quick takeaways from the survey:
1) Small sample size – only 47 respondents.
2) Majority of respondents Feel LHRT is doing a good job with its current activities.
3) Journal and blog are top favorites among respondents.
4) Majority of respondents are happy with current awards structure.
5) Mixed results concerning adjustments to the levels of cash awards.
6) Support for new ideas:
a) honorable mention for awards (but no cash award)
b) a new award to support library history research
c) grants for participation in ALA annual
d) grants to support exhibit creation
7) Several comments about doing more with online programming. This is connected to comments to pull away from ALA annual, engage more people who can't travel, and engage more international members.
8) There are members interested in serving. We need to engage with them.
