    We're still looking for good people willing to step forward and help LHRT keep moving forward to support study of library history.

    If you've been on the fence, consider putting your name in! All positions generally involve minimal hours per month. If you have any questions about the positions and what they entail, please reach out!

    Alea

    Dear LHRT members,

    It is time to get our nominations together for LHRT next year. If you want to get more involved, this is your chance! We hope that many of you will consider running for office – it is a fun way to get involved nationally. As part of the Executive Committee, you can help make decisions about programming and future directions of the Round Table.

    The ALA Council recently changed which roundtable offices may be elected. The main impact on LHRT is that members-at-large are now appointed. The development is so recent it is not yet reflected in the LHRT Rules and Handbook. (Otherwise, please consult these documents for additional information about the positions.)

    We are looking for people to run for the following positions:

    • Vice-Chair/Chair Elect/Immediate Past Chair (3 year commitment):
      The Chair-elect/Vice-chair shall assume the duties of the Chair in the event of the Chair's absence or inability to fulfill his or her term of office. In addition, the duties of the Vice-Chair include the following:

      1. Work with the Chair to appoint committee members.

      2. Chair the Research Committee, overseeing and coordinating the Research Forum and the work of the award committees

    • Secretary (2 year commitment): The duties of the secretary include taking minutes for Executive Board meetings, and ensuring LHRT documents are deposited in the ALA Archives.

    • Treasurer Elect/Treasurer (2 year commitment): The Treasurer-elect shall assist the Treasurer and assume the responsibilities and perform the duties of Treasurer in the event of absence, death, disability, or resignation of the Treasurer and shall serve as Treasurer in the year following his or her term as Treasurer-elect. The primary responsibility is working with the Chair to develop and approve the budget.

    In addition to the elected positions, we are looking for two Members-at-large (2 year commitments) The Members-at-large shall serve on the Executive Board. Starting in July 2026, Members-at-large have specific areas of responsibility.

    • Member-at-large A assists the Chair with planning the Holley Lecture and any other Annual Meeting arrangements;

    • Member-at-large B contributes to Communications and Marketing committees and/or endeavors.

    Please send any questions to Nominations Committee Chair Alea Henle at henlear@miamioh.edu","per_e":"<henlear@miamioh.edu>","type":"person"}">henlear@miamioh.edu

    Interested in running for Vice-Chair, Secretary, or Treasurer-Elect or in serving as a Member-at-large? Email Alea Henle with an expression of interest, specifying which position. Candidates for election will receive links from ALA to complete the Online Candidate Biographical Form.

    All expressions of interest should reach Alea by Monday, 3 November. Elections take place in February; appointments will likely take place at the January LHRT Executive Board meeting.

    Thank you for considering this fun and important service!
