    Posted 30 days ago

Dear ALA Round Table Leaders and Staff Liaisons:

On behalf of Intellectual Freedom Committee Chair Ray James, I am sharing the attached request for feedback from all of ALA's Round Tables. In anticipation of a new edition of The Intellectual Freedom Manual, the Intellectual Freedom Committee is in the process of reviewing and updating all intellectual freedom-related documents as needed.

This request is for the sixth feedback round concerning the revised Library Bill of Rights Interpretations. Both your Round Table leadership and member feedback are important to the process, and we value your time. The IFC would appreciate feedback from the Round Table leadership and that you share the request with your members. The IFC is also seeking feedback from the ALA Executive Board, Council Committees, Divisions, and the National Association of Librarians of Color leaders. The IFC will incorporate feedback into final draft Interpretations which will be presented to ALA Council. Next week, we will send the seventh round so that the IFC is able to finalize as many Interpretations as possible in time for Annual Conference.

Details about the feedback process are outlined in the attached memo as well as links to the relevant documents. Feedback is requested by 5:00 pm Central Time on Wednesday, MAY 14, 2025. Questions about the review may be directed to IFC Chair Ray James (erayjames@gmail.com) or OIF Director Deborah Caldwell-Stone (dstone@ala.org).

    Thank you in advance,

    Aimee
