The Library History Round Table (LHRT) of the American Library Association (ALA) invites submissions for the 2024 Donald G. Davis Article Award. The Davis Award is given every even-numbered year to recognize the best article written in English in the field of United States and Canadian library history including the history of libraries, librarianship, and book culture. The award honors Donald G. Davis, longtime professor at the School of Information at the University of Texas and editor of Libraries & the Cultural Record (formerly Journal of Library History, Philosophy, and Comparative Librarianship).

Entries are judged on quality of scholarship, clarity of style, and depth of research. The LHRT is particularly interested in articles that place the subject within its broader historical, social, cultural, and political context and make interdisciplinary connections with print culture and information studies. Articles must have been published between January 1 and December 31 of the two years preceding the award year (January 1, 2022-December 31, 2023).

Nominations, which must include a recommendation and an electronic copy of the article, should be uploaded at this link by Friday, February 16, 2024.
