Bernadette Storck (1935 -2021) was highly respected and admired for her teaching and mentoring students and colleagues in the state of Florida. A scholarship for LIS students at the University of South Florida, School of Information from the Florida Library Association is named for her.
She served as president of the Florida Library Association. She established and curated the archives of the Florida Library Association, held at the University of South Florida Library.
She organized the Pinellas County (FL) Library Cooperative, serving as its first director.
She was an administrator at the Tampa-Hillsborough (FL) Public Library System and the Leon County (FL) Public Library.
She was a member and President of the Tampa American Association of University Women.
She was a long-time adjunct faculty member at the University of South Florida School of Information.
The University of South Florida, School of Information honored her in 1996 as the Alice Smith Lecturer.
Bernadette Stork inspired countless library students and prepared them to become effective leaders often taking a van load of students to "Library Day" at the state capitol in Tallahassee, Florida to advocate for library support. (It is 245 miles from Tampa to Tallahassee).
