 Committee timeline?

Hi all! Apologies for essentially cross-posting the same inquiry to the Rainbow Round Table and to the IFRT, if you're on both, hate to be annoying, but: I'm a new ALA member and equally new member of the IFRT. There were a few committees I was interested in applying to be a part of for the IFRT, but I wasn't sure what the timeline was for applying. I know that for ALA broadly, one typically applies by September 30 to be considered for an appointment in July the following year, even though the application itself is available year-round. I also know that individual divisions and round tables sometimes have their own timelines, but I can't find any information about the IFRT's. Does the IFRT have the same standard committee application timeline as ALA typically does, or does it have its own bespoke schedule?

Thanks in advance! (And, again, seriously, thanks for your patience with me cross-posting the same question to both forums, if you happen to also be in both.)

Hi Melanie!

First of all, Welcome to IFRT! We typically start planning for the next terms (they begin on July 1/during Annual conference for ALA) in the Spring. In the case of IFRT, the incoming chair (our chair-elect right now is Wanda) will start to make committee appointments in the next couple of months. Submitting the volunteer form now for July puts you in a good place!

IFRT also has an Active Member List: Member List | Intellectual Freedom Round Table that you can fill out to let IFRT leadership know that you are interested in opportunities to actively engage in IFRT.

Happy to have you on board promoting the Freedom to Read!
