Do you want to be proactive in the fight for intellectual freedom? Now is your chance! You've seen it on the news, maybe you've experienced it yourself, and maybe you thought "Someone should do something!" Well, you're someone and we want you to be active in the Intellectual Freedom Round Table (IFRT)!
What does the IFRT do? We are champions of intellectual freedom providing a forum for discussion of activities, programs and problems facing intellectual freedom.
Volunteer to serve on an Intellectual Freedom Round Table committee. We will be making appointments this spring for volunteers to begin this important work on July 1, after the 2024 Annual Conference, with a two year term, ending June 30, 2025. We are currently seeking members and chairpersons for nine IFRT committees. Round Table service does not require attendance at conferences. This is a great chance to "meet" other like-minded IFRT members, shape the direction and work of the Round Table, and build your leadership skills.
Everyone who would like to be considered for service on an IFRT committee, whether new or seeking reappointment, should fill out the ALA volunteer form. The form and more information about committees and round tables can be found here: https://www.ala.org/rt/ifrt/ifrt-committees
If you have questions about appointments or volunteering, please contact IFRT Chair-Elect Jennifer Griswold at jleianic@gmail.com.
In order to be appointed to an IFRT committee, you must be a member of IFRT.
If you have only served one term and would like to renew, fill out an IFRT volunteer form, or contact me directly.
