The Intellectual Freedom Round Table (IFRT) provides a forum for the discussion of activities, programs, and problems in intellectual freedom of libraries and librarians.

The IFRT Members Community group is the central hub for discussion, library and events. It is visible to all ALA members but only IFRT members can participate in the conversation.

    Hi all,

    The second installment of the 2024 IFRT Reads series is scheduled for Tuesday, February 27, 2024 and is being co-sponsored by Core's Continuing Education Committee. This meeting will be a one-hour webinar format starting at 1 pm Pacific, 2 pm Mountain, 3 pm Central, and 4 pm Eastern time. We will be joined by Dr. Andrea Jamison, author of  Decentering Whiteness in Libraries: A Framework for Inclusive Collection Management Practices.  Our conversation will focus on chapter 2: Understanding the Library Bill of Rights and its Significance to Diversity in Collection Development, and we'll be answering questions developed during the first discussion of this chapter in the January session.

    Anyone interested in the intersection between intellectual freedom and diversity as it pertains to collection development.

    Presenter:

    Dr. Andrea Jamison is an educator, librarian, and champion for diversity with over 17 years of experience in schools and libraries. Her research interests include examining the interplay of race, power, and privilege in children's books.
