Hi Xan,
I read the SCOTUS blog and listened to the Oral Arguments. This is a dilemma and it seems to me that Justices Kagan, Sotomayor, and Ketanji Brown Jackson, see a broader scenario here that goes beyond the issue of opt-outs for LGBTQ+ themed storybooks. Will opt-outs become the questioning of the contents of the books themselves as Justice Kagan suggested? Where is the red-line? Also, I believe that Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson wondered if the parents objecting to the books for religious reasons might seek out schools that are more in line with their beliefs. Choice schools and Voucher schools are funded by public schools in many areas and there may be no need for cost to be an issue. I can't fathom the difficulty that teachers encounter juggling classwork , behavior, and making decisions about who leaves and when and where. A nightmare! Yes, this is a censorship issue , but I'm guessing that the majority of the Court won't see it that way.
Respectfully,

There is an interesting case that has been heard by the Supreme Court and was reported on the SCOTUS blog.
