The Intellectual Freedom Round Table (IFRT) provides a forum for the discussion of activities, programs, and problems in intellectual freedom of libraries and librarians.

The IFRT Members Community group is the central hub for discussion, library and events. It is visible to all ALA members but only IFRT members can participate in the conversation.

    Right to Read Ohio conducted a survey of school librarians. Though our responses were few and not generalizable, we still learned a lot about what is going on with censorship in Ohio. Similar to other states, we now know that:
    • There are more censorship incidents than are reported in the press/ by ALA

    • Many schools are not supported by their administration

    • Many librarians are changing their practices in acquisitions, displays, or programs because of this climate of censorship, no matter how long they've been on the job, how much education they have, or even whether or not they directly experienced a censorship incident
