Good morning,
I'm writing to introduce a Foreword Reviews-launched publishing event designed to deepen the ties between libraries and book publishers. Now in its third year, the Library Insights Summit is a daylong seminar held on the opening day of the ALA Annual Conference, this year on Friday, June 27, at the Philadelphia Convention Center.
LIS is primarily focused on helping book-publishing professionals learn insider tips and discover new ideas for selling more books into the library market. In years past, we've also drawn a significant number of librarians seeking to learn more about the publisher-librarian relationship, in addition to understanding how librarians in other systems are handling various challenges-from book bans to circulation challenges to meeting the needs of their patrons.
From our perspective as event organizers, we are always thrilled to have librarians attend because our publisher attendees want nothing more than to hear directly from YOU about how they can work more closely with collection development librarians.
To that end, we're offering librarians attending ALA Annual a 50+ percent discount to join us at the Library Insights Summit.
The programming includes:
Representatives from large and rural library systems sharing how they make acquisition decisions.
Lessons from key library wholesalers and distributors about how to make metadata work harder.
Types of marketing librarians find most effective, including book covers that improve circulation odds, awards, arcs/galleys, and reviews they can't live without.
Trendspotting and discussion of categories they don't see enough content about.
How libraries are coping with book bans and how you can support them.
Scheduled from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, the reduced registration fee of $ 99 includes four unique sessions with high-level panelists from the library-publisher ecosystem, two keynotes, closing remarks with Baker & Taylor's Aman Kochar, lunch, refreshments, and plenty of time for networking with your colleagues.
Again, please take more than 50 percent off! the ticket price by using the code ALACOL at checkout.
I invite you-and others from your library system, perhaps-to make the most of your ALA experience this year by starting the weekend with us at LIS. Please let me know if you have additional questions.
