The Intellectual Freedom Round Table (IFRT) provides a forum for the discussion of activities, programs, and problems in intellectual freedom of libraries and librarians.

The IFRT Members Community group is the central hub for discussion, library and events. It is visible to all ALA members but only IFRT members can participate in the conversation.

    Dear Colleagues:

Last month,  Wonda Powell and I had the honor of giving keynote speeches to a conference on the future of libraries.  The conference was organized by the Pacific Library Partnership and held at the San Francisco Public Library.    I spoke about "Confronting Disinformation and Book Bans by Cultivating Critical Thinking and Empathy."    Wonda Powell's speech was entitled,  "From Critical Thinking to Critical Race Theory:  Unearthing History."    The speeches and other conference panels can be viewed by clicking on the link below.

Looking forward to your comments and questions.

If you look at the conversations posted you will find Deborah Caldwell-Stone's post before mine. I cannot answer to hers because "I am not a subscribed member" but to your post and my own, I can answer. What this means is that IFRT and by extension the ALA Connect system is one that is selectively censorious. This is contrary to Intellectual Freedom.
