The Intellectual Freedom Round Table (IFRT) provides a forum for the discussion of activities, programs, and problems in intellectual freedom of libraries and librarians.

The IFRT Members Community group is the central hub for discussion, library and events. It is visible to all ALA members but only IFRT members can participate in the conversation.

    Join the Intellectual Freedom Round Table (IFRT) for a timely conversation on the urgent issue of book challenges and bans. This discussion will feature Shannon Oltmann, editor of the Oboler Award winning The Fight Against Book Bans: Perspectives from the Field, along with chapter authors Glen J. Benedict and Jenna Kammer.

    Together, the panelists will explore the current landscape of censorship in libraries, schools, and communities, sharing insights from their contributions to the book:

    • It's Not Just the Quantity: Book Challenges in 2021 and Beyond – Glen J. Benedict

    • When Policy Does Not Stop the Ban: Reflections on Moving Forward – Jenna Kammer and Mernie Maestas
