The Intellectual Freedom Round Table (IFRT) provides a forum for the discussion of activities, programs, and problems in intellectual freedom of libraries and librarians.

The IFRT Members Community group is the central hub for discussion, library and events. It is visible to all ALA members but only IFRT members can participate in the conversation.

    The Alabama School Library Association will host its third annual intellectual freedom webinar to mark #BannedBooksWeek

    This year, scholar Dr. Shannon Oltmann, author of Practicing Intellectual Freedom in Libraries (2019) and editor of The Fight against Book Bans: Perspectives from the Field  (2023), will take your questions about intellectual freedom in school libraries  via Zoom on Wednesday, September 21 at 4:00 p.m. Central Time. 

    All librarians and library candidates are welcome!
