The Intellectual Freedom Round Table (IFRT) provides a forum for the discussion of activities, programs, and problems in intellectual freedom of libraries and librarians.

The IFRT Members Community group is the central hub for discussion, library and events. It is visible to all ALA members but only IFRT members can participate in the conversation.

    Proposed Bylaw Changes
    Below are the proposed bylaw changes for Article VI, Section 1 for the IFRT ballot. The round table board voted to include these on the ballot at ALA Annual Conference 2018. 

    Action: Amend Article VI, Section 1, so committee chairs would be voting members of the Executive Committee.

    Current Language:
    The officers of the Round Table and the chairs of the Bylaws and Organization, Membership Promotion, Nominating, and Program Committees shall constitute the Executive Committee. Chairs of other standing committees and liaisons shall be non-voting members of the Executive Committee.

    Proposed Language (additions underlined, omissions in brackets):
    The officers of the Round Table and the chairs of the Bylaws and Organization, Coalition BuildingJohn Phillip Immroth Award, Membership Promotion, Merritt Fund Support, Nominating, Eli Oboler Award, [and] Program, and Publications and Communications Committees shall constitute the Executive Committee. [Chairs of other standing committees and] Liaisons shall be non-voting members of the Executive Committee. (Vote Yes or No)
