Dear IFRT members,
Has your library organized an event or program featuring speakers with differing points of view on a controversial topic? Have you organized an event or program on a controversial topic and been challenged over your choice of topic or over your curation of speakers/authors?
I know this comes at short notice, but I am exploring interest in submitting an ALA 2022 conference panel proposal (due on midnight next Friday, October 1) on the topic of how academic libraries are engaging issues of public and scholarly controversy via events and programs. If you think you may be interested in participating as a panelist, please email me at
e-remus@neiu.edu with a very brief description of your professional role and of the events/programming work you could potentially address via a panel presentation.
Thanks for considering this. I look forward to meeting some potential IFRT collaborators!
Sincerely,
Ed Remus
