See you in SLC!

Keynote: The opening keynote speaker will be C. Thi Nguyen, author of the American Philosophical Association 2021 Book Prize Award Winner, Games: Agency As Art. C. Thi Nguyen is Associate Professor of Philosophy at University of Utah. He writes and speaks about trust, art, games, and communities.

Sessions: What's Next for the Library? Gaming, VR and eSports? Libraries continuously realign with institutional priorities, new academic program offerings and the interests of incoming students. Burgeoning interdisciplinary academic programs embrace gaming - not just game design, but also music composition for games, design/artwork, storytelling and more. With growing digital media collections, libraries are repurposing space allocated to housing low-use formats (CD, DVD) for gaming learning activities. Should your library grow its game collection and dedicate space for gaming furniture and technology to buttress these programs? Explore strategies for successfully supporting gaming and its ancillary programs, and the role academic libraries can play in the enormously popular realm of eSports.

About Core: Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, and Futures is the division of the American Library Association whose mission is to cultivate and amplify the collective expertise of library workers in core functions through community building, advocacy, and learning.
