The mission of the Games and Gaming Round Table is to provide the following:
  • A forum for the exchange of ideas and concerns surrounding games in libraries;
  • Resources to the library community to support the building and maintaining of library game collections;
  • A force for initiating and supporting game programming in libraries;
  • Create an awareness of, and need for, the support of the value of gaming and play in libraries, schools, and related learning communities.
  • Create an awareness of the value of games and gaming in library outreach and community engagement plans.
  • A professional and social forum for networking among librarians and non-librarians interested in games and gaming.

    Hello, folks,

    Just wanted to pass along a message sent out through RTCA:

    "Hello RTCA, now that the ALA elections are open I urge you to vote, of course, but also to make sure you take the time to read the proposed changes in the bylaws amendment 2. The proposed changes are labeled as "amendment to clarify a session and a meeting of council," but they go deeper for Divisions and Round Tables. The proposed changes to Article X. Round Tables also further lay out the procedures for the merger or dissolution of a Round Table. I believe the changes/additions don't fundamentally change what happens when a Round Table falls below the 150 member threshold, but adds more detail to the processes once the affected round table decides between it's possible courses of action. Still, please do read the proposed changes so you are aware of the processes if the amendment passes."

    We can chat about it at tomorrow's meeting, but wanted to get the info out there for folks who might be voting before.
