  • To serve as a source of information on recommended ethnic collections, services, and programs.
  • To organize task forces, institutes, and workshops to carry out the functions of the Round Table as defined in the petition.
  • To develop for Annual conferences forums and symposia programs that deal with the key issues of ethnicity and librarianship.
  • To maintain a liaison with the Office of Library Outreach Services and cooperate with other ALA units, including the caucuses in joint projects for the betterment of outreach services.
  • To disseminate the work of the Round Table through a program of publications

    Good Afternoon Coretta Scott King Book Awards members,

    I am excited by the enthusiasm to help with this year's breakfast ceremony.  As the Breakfast Chair, I will be coordinating the volunteers for both Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26, 2022 work.

    All interested members are welcomed to help on Saturday but please sign-up by Monday, June 6, 2022 so I will know how many people to expect and prepare for. I am not sure of the exact time we will begin to stuff bags, but it will be immediately following the CSK Book Awards general membership meeting. The location will be provided in a later communication.

     Anyone who would like to help on Sunday, I ask that you commit to both days. The reason why I would like anyone interested in helping on Sunday morning to also help out on Saturday is so we can meet after stuffing bags to review the tasks that need to be completed before guests arrive and while they are arriving. The preparation time on Sunday morning is limited with an arrival time of 5:00 AM for volunteers. To help eliminate any potential confusion on tasks for the day, Saturday afternoon is a great time to come together for a review and not be rushed.

    Please note: Anyone agreeing to assist with the breakfast preparations will need to purchase their own CSK Book Awards Breakfast ticket.

    There is also another CSK volunteer opportunity on Saturday afternoon. Honoring Leaders from Our Past to Prepare for Our Future: A Coretta Scott King Legacy Celebration on Saturday, June 25 at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library begins at 4:00 pm. Please arrive by 3:00 PM If you would like to help with this event.
