  • To serve as a source of information on recommended ethnic collections, services, and programs.
  • To organize task forces, institutes, and workshops to carry out the functions of the Round Table as defined in the petition.
  • To develop for Annual conferences forums and symposia programs that deal with the key issues of ethnicity and librarianship.
  • To maintain a liaison with the Office of Library Outreach Services and cooperate with other ALA units, including the caucuses in joint projects for the betterment of outreach services.
  • To disseminate the work of the Round Table through a program of publications

    Hello Everyone,
    We are postponing the EMIERT Executive Board meeting originally scheduled for today until February 12th at 4:30pm. Calendar invites hopefully updated (I'm having a little trouble with my Outlook). Otherwise, here is the joining link. Join our Cloud HD Video Meeting
    All EMIERT Members are welcome to attend, but only Board members and EMIERT Committee Chairs have voting privileges.
    Please use this extra time to help EMIERT with a few activities:
    • Add any relevant items to the agenda and take note of the new agenda layout.
    • Review the draft of EMIERT's programs guidelines, and leave your comments. NOTE: Delay of today's meeting does not impact EMIERT's presentation opportunities at ALA Annual Conference. Time slots are still being reserved.
    • Review the draft of the proposed programs submission form and prepare comments for discussion.
    • We still need more nominations for the David Cohen award! Consider nominating someone to recognize their significant new research related to the understanding and promotion of multiculturalism in libraries in North America. Publications should have occurred in the last two years (2023-2025).     Brief announcement:
    EMIERT Treasurer Fatima Perkins is currently supporting the review of EMIERT's budget for next year in partnership with EMIERT's ALA Staff Liaison (me). Please reach out to either one of us with questions.
