  • To serve as a source of information on recommended ethnic collections, services, and programs.
  • To organize task forces, institutes, and workshops to carry out the functions of the Round Table as defined in the petition.
  • To develop for Annual conferences forums and symposia programs that deal with the key issues of ethnicity and librarianship.
  • To maintain a liaison with the Office of Library Outreach Services and cooperate with other ALA units, including the caucuses in joint projects for the betterment of outreach services.
  • To disseminate the work of the Round Table through a program of publications

    While I celebrate EVERY new children's book representing Immigrant and New Generation families, it is frustrating that 95% of those books are available in English only.

    My nonprofit I'm Your Neighbor Books (IYNB)-an organization that curates and shares New Arrival and New Generation children's books-has long wanted to break that multilingual barrier (even a tiny bit).
    With full permission from Random House Canada, we have done so with a book that could easily depict the journey of Ukrainian families.

    "Переказ і запис книги STORY BOAT були зроблені трьома українками, щоб дати надію там, де вона потрібна. The STORY BOAT translation and recording was created by three Ukrainian girls to give hope where hope is needed." -Liza Pedash
    IYNB worked with three Ukrainian college students to translate and record an "audiobook" of the picture book STORY BOAT (Tundra Books) into Ukrainian.

    You can transform your own copy of STORY BOAT (ISBN: 9780735263598) into a Ukrainian edition with a free PDF kit from IYNB. The kit has a QR Code label to print and paste into the front endpapers of the book. When scanned, the QR Code leads to the read aloud. Get the kit here:
