  • To serve as a source of information on recommended ethnic collections, services, and programs.
  • To organize task forces, institutes, and workshops to carry out the functions of the Round Table as defined in the petition.
  • To develop for Annual conferences forums and symposia programs that deal with the key issues of ethnicity and librarianship.
  • To maintain a liaison with the Office of Library Outreach Services and cooperate with other ALA units, including the caucuses in joint projects for the betterment of outreach services.
  • To disseminate the work of the Round Table through a program of publications

    Join us for the for the following ALSIS events for Spring 2024 (January- June 2024).

    You do not have to be an ALSIS member.  The Zoom link provided will work for both meetings: No Registration Required.

     

    1. BYOA- Bring Your Own Article- Friday March 15 3pm ET

    We are repeating the same event we had last year where each of us brought in one article we had read on libraries and international students and shared with the group. It could be a research article or opinion based article. Be prepared to:

      1. Summarize the article for your breakout room
      2. Discuss briefly how the article has informed your work with international students and/or how the article could inform our work with international students.

    1. Panel Discussion: Scholarship As a Conversation and International Students- Thursday April 25 at 2pm ET.

    We will have three panelists to cover the following with a general discussion, Q&A time to follow:

      2. Scholarship as Conversation & Generative Artificial Intelligence- Paula Johnson
      3. Scholarship as Conversation & International Students: Some considerations- Peggy Nzomo
