This prestigious award recognizes recent articles that include significant new research related to the understanding and promotion of multiculturalism in libraries across North America. Eligible works must have been published within the past two years preceding the award deadline and should demonstrate advances in understanding multicultural issues in libraries.

The award consists of a certificate and a $500 monetary prize and will be presented at the ALA Annual Conference during the EMIERT Membership Meeting.

    • Significance and potential impact of the publication

    • Originality

The David Cohen/EMIERT Multicultural Award is presented biennially in even-numbered years (e.g. 2026, 2028, 2030). If no suitable candidate is identified, the award may not be presented.
