  • 1.  Library Services to Immigrant Populations

    Posted Mar 23, 2026 03:46 PM

    Hello Everyone,

ALA is always expanding its continuing education offerings, and we are currently looking into facilitating events centered around library services for immigrant populations. Does anyone have recommendations for potential instructors? This would be in the context of providing traditional library services, not on dealing with the Immigration Enforcement Crisis. If any ideas spring to mind, please let me know either here or at ahuff@ala.org.

    Thank you for pondering!

    Hi Aubrey,

Last year, SRRT's annual summit theme was "Building Spaces of Solidarity and Connection: A Historical, Theoretical, and Practical Lens on Libraries' Commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Justice." One of our panels, "How Can Libraries Support Immigrant and Refugee Populations," featured a terrific slate of speakers. Highly recommend any and all of them for instruction and/or referrals. You can visit our event page to learn more: https://www.ala.org/srrt/buildingspaces.

I would also recommend posting this inquiry on SRRT's Connect space and REFORMA. Warmly, Rachel
