    Hello, Friends!

I am thrilled to share that through a donation from Newbery Honor author Phillip Hoose (CLAUDETTE COLVIN: TWICE TOWARD JUSTICE) to our nonprofit I'm Your Neighbor Books, the Welcoming Library can now be borrowed for 4 weeks at NO COST by any classroom, library, or community group in the county.

    AWARD-WINNING IMMIGRATION COMMUNITY TEACHING TOOL
Already acquired as a shared resource is school and public library districts in 18 states, the Welcoming Library was given an American Association of School Librarians official commendation  for "building a stronger culture of welcoming and belonging by providing access to a free traveling library of children's books featuring new arrivals and new Americans."

    WELCOMING LIBRARY
The Welcoming Library: Traveling Collection is a "pop-up conversation on immigration." It includes 30 acclaimed picture books featuring Immigrant and New Generation communities. Each book has a set of unique Discussion Questions affixed to the back endpapers that open conversations on culture, community, commonalities, welcoming, and belonging-questions that work with all ages and backgrounds. An easily assembled wooden display with a multilingual banner that invites patrons to "Read to Welcome, Read to Belong" accompanies the titles and conversation starters. A companion online toolkit offer programming ideas for the borrower.  Watch a video about the project.

    BORROW AT NO COST
