Dear CSK and EMIERT Members,
The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) is interested in hearing from current, past, and prospective members as we begin our strategic planning process! As an association, we strive to engage communities to build healthy, successful futures for all children. We appreciate your input to be part of this process. As a first step to gather member input, we are holding a range of conversations to hear about the current concerns, interests, and priorities of library workers serving children, as well as aspirations for the profession and ALSC.
Each conversation will last 60-90 minutes and will take place on Zoom. You can find all of the sessions with registration links here: https://www.ala.org/alsc/alsc-strategic-planning-affinity-sessions
Some of the conversations will be open to general participation, while others will be conversations in affinity groups to allow individuals from historically marginalized identity groups to be able to share in an environment with peers. If you do not identify with any of the affinity groups, please participate only in a general conversation.
Please note that I'll be hosting a session for BIPOC members on October 12th from 12:30-2:00 CT. I would like to hear from you. Feel free to pass this along to others who might be interested in attending the session. 😊
The details of what is shared in these conversations will be kept private, and the themes and ideas that emerge will inform the next ALSC strategic plan. No personally identifying information will be connected to any of the comments or feedback. Thanks so much.
