  • To serve as a source of information on recommended ethnic collections, services, and programs.
  • To organize task forces, institutes, and workshops to carry out the functions of the Round Table as defined in the petition.
  • To develop for Annual conferences forums and symposia programs that deal with the key issues of ethnicity and librarianship.
  • To maintain a liaison with the Office of Library Outreach Services and cooperate with other ALA units, including the caucuses in joint projects for the betterment of outreach services.
  • To disseminate the work of the Round Table through a program of publications

    Tomorrow is the day of celebration at LibLearnX! See below the events information and description for the Youth Media Awards and the MLK Sunrise Celebration.

    Youth Media Awards
    Date and Time: Monday, January 24 at 8am CST (9am EST| 7am MST| 6am PST)
    Description: Join the Coretta Scott King Book Awards, Stonewall Book Awards, and other ALA Youth Book Awards as they announce their 2022 winners and honors. After the awards are announced, set your calendars for the official 53rd Annual Coretta Scott King Book Awards Breakfast on Sunday, June 26 from 7:00am - 9:30am EST and the Stonewall Book Awards Celebration on Monday, June 27. Both celebrations will be taking place at ALA Annual in Washington, D.C. Follow official information about both events through the Connect Groups and through the official ALA Annual website. Ticket information TBA.

    The 23rd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Holiday Observation and Sunrise Celebration

    Monday, January 24 at 9am (10am EST| 8am MST| 7am PST)
    Description:
    The 23rd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Virtual Holiday Observance and Sunrise Celebration commemorates Dr. King's legacy and recognizes the connection between his life's work and the library world. This year's theme focuses on Dr. King's 1957 speech "Give Us the Ballot – We Will Transform the South" with a keynote address by author Keisha Blain and a call-to-action speech by ALA Executive Director Tracie D. Hall. The 2022 Celebration is sponsored by ALA's Office for Diversity, Literacy and Outreach Services, ALA's Social Responsibilities Round Table (SRRT), OCLC, BCALA, and Beacon Press.
