  • To serve as a source of information on recommended ethnic collections, services, and programs.
  • To organize task forces, institutes, and workshops to carry out the functions of the Round Table as defined in the petition.
  • To develop for Annual conferences forums and symposia programs that deal with the key issues of ethnicity and librarianship.
  • To maintain a liaison with the Office of Library Outreach Services and cooperate with other ALA units, including the caucuses in joint projects for the betterment of outreach services.
  • To disseminate the work of the Round Table through a program of publications

    Please share with your students, interns, staff, and others who may be interested in pursuing and MA in LIS with an emphasis on serving BIPOC communities:

    Knowledge River is recruiting for Cohort 20 to begin in Summer/Fall 2021. KR is dedicated to recruitment and retention of BIPOC librarians and information professionals with an emphasis on Latino, Native, and intersectional ethnic communities. With 20 years of successful recruitment and funding, we continue in our commitment diversity and inclusion, supporting racially and ethnically diverse librarians and information professionals, and transforming the field.

    Applications for the iSchool and for Knowledge River are available at: Apply to Knowledge River Applications will open January 15 and the deadline to apply is March 15, 2021. Students must apply to the MALIS program by February 1 and to KR by March 15.

    Knowledge River is a leading diversity initiative in LIS education committed to recruiting and supporting BIPOC professionals in information science. KR Scholars earn an MA in Library & Information Science, and are eligible for funding, professional development opportunities, and mentorship unique to KR scholars.
