  • To serve as a source of information on recommended ethnic collections, services, and programs.
  • To organize task forces, institutes, and workshops to carry out the functions of the Round Table as defined in the petition.
  • To develop for Annual conferences forums and symposia programs that deal with the key issues of ethnicity and librarianship.
  • To maintain a liaison with the Office of Library Outreach Services and cooperate with other ALA units, including the caucuses in joint projects for the betterment of outreach services.
  • To disseminate the work of the Round Table through a program of publications

    The Black Caucus of the American Library Association (BCALA) is seeking a part-time remote  Grant Manager to provide administrative support on two federally funded projects. This independent contractor position begins on October 5, 2020 with a pay range of $20-30 hourly per week for a minimum of 12 months plus the possibility of renewal. 


    BCALA serves as an advocate for the development, promotion, and improvement of library services and resources to the nation's Black/African American community and provides leadership for the recruitment and professional development of Black/African American librarians.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ability to develop, manage, and execute projects on schedule and to work on tight deadlines as needed
    • Maintain budgetary control of grants and contracts, ensuring proper expense classification based on grantor guidelines
    • Coordinate with BCALA Treasurer to prepare payments/expenditures and reports, and review payments charged to grants for conformity to budget
    • Coordinate with BCALA Organizational Consultant to address website, software, or technical needs
    • Maintain all grant records to the standard of being audit-ready
    • Record minutes during Advisory Board meetings
    • Attend Executive Board meetings, as needed
    • Attend Quarterly Grant meeting

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • At least 3 years of experience managing federal grants
    • Demonstrated knowledge of federal grant policy and procedures
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Proficiency in spreadsheets and accounting software, eGMS/Reach, SAM, and other grant systems

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in nonprofit management, business, or related field
    • Knowledge of the library and information science field
