Recently, Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) and Representative Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ-03) introduced the Right to Read Act so every student has access to a fully resourced school library. This bill has a long way to go, but we need to show Sen. Reed and Rep. Grijalva that our library community will be behind them at every step.

We have a goal: 1000 signatures in the next 48 hours on a thank you card for the co-authors of this crucial bill. Click the button below to sign, and then share with your friends to show your strong support for the Right to Read Act.

We know that students that utilize school libraries have 73% higher literacy rates than students attending schools without adequately resourced and staffed school libraries. With just a few months left in this Congress, the  Right to Read Act is just beginning the lengthy legislative process, but it will be key to closing the school library resource gap. And not only does this bill expand access, it strengthens First Amendment protections for librarians and educators.

Let's meet our signature goal to show Sen. Reed and Rep. Grijalva that the library community will back the Right to Read Act for the long haul. Sign, share, and spread the word about this crucial school library bill!
