The National Medal for Museum and Library Service recognizes outstanding libraries of every type and size that deeply impact their communities.
IMLS is particularly interested in libraries that foster a lifelong passion for learning, provide access to information with a focus on digital inclusion, serve as trusted community spaces, and respond to the unprecedented challenges of recent years to revitalize and renew organizational practice.
IMLS does not typically receive many nominations from school libraries and the last school library recognized was Park View High School Library Media Center (VA) in 2012.
Nominations are due by September 1. Members of the public, board members, volunteers, or government officials are welcome to nominate a school library.
