Greetings and please excuse duplication,
After the virtual meeting on April 25, during which chapter representatives from many states discussed the state of advocacy, we formed a planning team: Susan Yutzey (Convener), Deb Logan (OH), Barbara Johnson (CT), and Tricina Beebe (NJ). The planning team reviewed the outcomes of the discussion including the purpose of the State Advocacy Group, issues, and next steps. To focus the work of the State Advocacy Group, the planning team created a short survey: https://forms.gle/F2APkFBoi7fRh5ZWA
We can use your help as an AASL Chapter Representative to identify school librarians in your state who are involved in statewide advocacy. We are planning a virtual meeting to discuss next steps. We will use the information in the survey to contact participants about the virtual meeting as well as future activities of the State Advocacy Group.
Advocacy is a long term, step-by-step effort to build outside support for cause, organization, and idea. Ultimately, advocacy is having others take action for student learning through strong, professionally staffed school libraries. "Advocacy is WE" (Deb Logan) and we are looking forward to working with you. Thank you.
Susan, Deb, Barbara, and Tricina

Please forward to any contacts in your Chapter who would be interested in participating in future meetings.
