Membership in the AASL Chapters Forum is open to all and may include the state-level school library association’s president/chair, other officers, conference chair, etc. Past Delegates and other interested stakeholders from the association may join the forum. This space provides an opportunity to share, discuss and ask questions from chapter colleagues across the country.

    "As far as books, he said, "I think that, again, the parents should be able to, whether it's in the library or not, I think the parents should be able to dictate what's in the library."

    "Not all books should be readily available, he said, referring to a list of 50 books he reviewed in which one book plot summary detailed the killing of a teacher by students."  

    With the above comments from one example of a potential board member's comments, and often comments taken out of context, it is important that School Librarians share resources, knowledge and support - as well as find creative connections to events that advocate for school libraries and librarians.

    In a recent dedication of our school library in Delaware, I utilized this event to advocate for libraries as well through a blog post:

    and I do believe as we go forward, there are positive ways to inform the public of how school libraries promotes the best interests of a diverse public.
