AASL has been informed that the position of Manager, Members & Chapters has been eliminated as part of the American Library Association's ongoing reduction-in-force. As a result, Jen Habley is no longer with ALA/AASL. Compared to this time last year, AASL staffing has decreased by approximately 55%.
Over the next several months, the AASL Board of Directors and AASL staff will conduct a comprehensive assessment of division operations to determine future priorities. While it would be unrealistic to expect that the same level of support for chapters and members can be maintained under current circumstances, please know that our commitment to serving chapters and members remains our top priority as we navigate this transition.
To help streamline communication and ensure that all inquiries are appropriately managed, please direct all messages to aasl@ala.org. Centralizing correspondence will enable remaining staff to coordinate work better and provide timely responses.
AASL deeply values the ongoing partnership and dedication of our affiliate state chapters, Chapter Assembly, and the Chapter Coordinating Team. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued collaboration during this period of change.
