AASL Opens Call for Proposals for National Conference
AASL has opened the proposal submission site for its 2025 national conference. AASL invites proposals for concurrent sessions and research empowering practice sessions to be presented Oct. 17-18, 2025, in St. Louis, Missouri. Complete session proposals must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. Central on Sat., March 1, 2025. More information is available at aasl.secure-platform.com/2025.
New Research Analyzes Collaboration Between School Librarians and Teachers
In the recently published "Indicators of Successful School Librarian and Teacher Collaboration: A Phenomenology," Kathy Colvin and Melanie Lewis Croft present a study examining the links between building relationships and establishing successful collaboration. The researchers collected data via interview and analyzed benchmarks of collaboration to determine which aspects of relationship cultivation allowed for greater success in collaboration.
New Research Analyzes Collection Development of Trans Materials in School Libraries
In the recently published "Good Intentions and Poor Collections: The Attitudes of School Librarians in One Southeastern State on Trans Material and Library Holdings," Rhys Dreeszen Bowman presents a multiple-methods two-part study examining collection development as it pertains to LGBTQIA+ books, with an emphasis on trans books. The researcher collected data via surveys, comparing a "control" list of books to a list of books that focused on trans topics.

Project Tomorrow Releases New Report on Engagement and Student Learning
Project Tomorrow has released "From Engagement to Learning: Closing the Gap Between Student Aspirations and Classroom Practices," a report based on findings collected from over 100,000 K-12 students, educators, administrators, and parents across the country. Chapter 1: Active vs. Passive Learning Using Digital Tools and Resources is now available for download and focuses on the key student question: How effective is the use of technology for learning?
