Membership in the AASL Chapters Forum is open to all and may include the state-level school library association’s president/chair, other officers, conference chair, etc. Past Delegates and other interested stakeholders from the association may join the forum. This space provides an opportunity to share, discuss and ask questions from chapter colleagues across the country.

    Donovan and Kordeliski Seek 2025-2026 AASL Presidency

    Lori Donovan and Amanda Kordeliski will seek the 2025-2026 AASL presidential term during the 2024 American Library Association (ALA) election. Donovan is currently the Library Services Specialist for Chesterfield County Public Schools, Virginia, and Kordeliski is currently the Director of Libraries and Instructional Technology for Norman (OK) Public Schools, Oklahoma.     AASL Award and Grant Applications Due February 1

    AASL members are encouraged to nominate a colleague or themselves to be lauded for their outstanding talent and dedication to the profession as part of this prestigious awards program. AASL awards and grants recognize excellence and showcase best practices in the school library field in categories that include collaboration, leadership, and innovation. Applications are due February 1.

    Volunteer for an AASL Committee or Work Group
    Get involved with your national association! Sharing your passion for school librarianship not only benefits the profession, but benefits you as well! Appointments for the 2024-2025 AASL governance starts in the spring! (Terms start July 1, 2024.) Share your interests today - your colleagues value the unique perspective you bring.

    Three AASL Members Receive 2024 I Love My Librarian Award

    ALA has announced the 10 recipients of the coveted I Love My Librarian Award! The 2024 award winners were nominated by library patrons nationwide for their expertise, dedication, and profound impact on the people in their communities. Each honoree receives a $5,000 cash prize as well as complimentary registration and a $750 travel stipend to attend ALA's 2024 LibLearnX.

    AASL & HRC Foundation Co-Hosted Webinar Looks at The State of Advocacy

    Join AASL, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, and the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) at 3:00 p.m. Central on Wednesday, January 24th for a webinar on "The State of Advocacy." The webinar will feature a brief presentation by Ellen Kahn (she/her), HRC's Vice President of Programs and Partnerships, about the state legislative session. It will also feature a conversation with youth serving professionals who have been advocating for LGBTQ+ youth on the ground. Attendees will leave the webinar with an understanding of the year to come and how they can better advocate for the LGBTQ+ youth they work with leading up to the 2024 presidential election.

    Project Tomorrow to Release Speak Up Teacher Report at the National FETC

    Speak Up Project Director, Michelle Green, will be presenting at the National Future of Education Technology Conference. While there Project Tomorrow will release the Speak Up Teacher Report, Recognizing the Parent Voice. The report explores teachers' current attitudes about the use of technology in instruction. The report and companion infographic will be released on January 23, 2024.
