    Good afternoon, everyone:

I'm sure you are scurrying to batten down the hatches ahead of leaving your libraries to attend ALA MidWinter. I know I am.

I currently serve as Chair-Elect of the committee for ALA's 2016 Sara Jaffarian School Library Program Award for Exemplary Humanities Programming. I had considered bringing the flier to distribute at one of our meetings, but decided it would be better to send it to you electronically to use as you see fit.

I will not bore you by reiterating the information contained within the flier, but I will tell you the award honors a K-8 school library program, AND it includes a $5,000 award. Please feel free to forward it far and wide.

If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Hope to see you soon!

    Best,

    Mona

To piggy-back on Mona's message. I strongly encourage you to apply. We received this award a few years ago and the application and recipient process (and money) was a phenomenal experience. It did great things for the collaborating teachers and community (Indiana State Library genealogy division) morale and relationship, and my administrator loved it! And if you are uncomfortable with applying for an award for yourself, think of it as a grant application instead. It would be a LOT of money for your library without the hassle of all those grant progress and post-grant reports.
And if the Sara Jaffarian award doesn't float your boat, follow the money check out some of the other awards at the AASL page http://www.ala.org/aasl/awards
