  • 1.  TIME SENSITIVE Regional Feedback to US Dept Ed DUE 8/18

    Posted Aug 17, 2016 10:00 AM

Please fill out this very brief survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PML2GPN for the US Department of Education about your priorities and educational needs and remind them to support effective school library programs in your region.

The deadline is August 18th.  Please share with the listservs in your state!

The survey provides feedback for developing the US Department of Education Comprehensive Centers http://www2.ed.gov/programs/newccp/index.html)  that provide  technical assistance to State education agencies (SEAs) capacity to support local educational agencies (LEAs or districts) and schools, especially low-performing districts and schools; improve educational outcomes for all students; close achievement gaps; and improve the quality of instruction.

Ten Regional Advisory Committees (RACs). http://www2.ed.gov/about/bdscomm/list/rac/index.html are collecting information on the educational needs of each of the ten regions. To the extent the Secretary of Education deems appropriate, the Department will use the information submitted by the RACs, along with other relevant regional surveys of needs, to establish priorities for the next cohort of Centers.

Let the RACs know that school librarians in effective school library programs are critical to the educational needs of your region!

Thank you for sharing this, Sylvia. I was unaware, too.

I encourage Affiliate Assembly delegates not to delay in sharing the link via their state's most accessed forum or directly to their membership. I have already received the message as a forward from one of Tennessee's delegates and completed the survey.

Thanks, again, for keeping us informed. It's a busy time of the year and easy to miss a timely message.

    Best,

    Mona
