  • 1.  Round Table Discussion at Affiliate Assembly 1 Midwinter

    Posted Feb 06, 2018 06:41 PM

This year's round table discussion will focus on your affiliate's work on the AASL Standards.  To make the discussions useful to your affiliate, I am requesting for some "Need to Knows" about the standards.  For example, an affiliate may need to know an effective way to provide professional development for their membership.   Please respond by Friday, February 9 5 p.m. Thanks.

    • Practical ways members and/or the organization could effectively reach the KY Board of Education review team who is considering library media standards. This is an adoption year for  KY library media standards. Without knowledge of the process/procedures I'd like to ensure the national standards are being considered for adoption. Support from AASL and ALA would be amazing - not sure how that works - getting involved in state education decisions.
    • Details on how to apply for the AASL grant for rolling out standards in our state
    • Access to AASL Standards activities we participated in Phoenix so we don’t have to start from scratch with interactive activities and duplicate resources (thank you for posting the card game!)
    • Where to upload activities and presentations so we can get ideas from others
    • Brainstorm interactive ideas to help librarians get to the heart of the standards in 50 minute, 90 minute and 3 hour sessions.
    • Possible crosswalks with ISTE, Next Generation Science Standards, Common Core Reading standards would be nice too (I know some of these are already in the works by the Implementation Committee)
