Affiliate Assembly members -
There is an ALA Youth Divisions Joint Executive Committee, which comprises of AASL, ALSC, and YALSA leadership. Within this committee, there is an Interdivisional Committee on School-Public Library Cooperation and a collaborative project was developed which I think might interest you.
We have received permission to offer our Affiliates the opportunity to reprint in your state professional journal or newsletter the “What the Public Librarian Wishes the School Librarian Knew’ and ‘What the School Librarian Wishes the Public Librarian Knew’ articles. These articles were originally published in the 2015 issue of the Children and Libraries magazine.
I hope you will take advantage of this offering. This is a great opportunity to help build understanding within your state about the strengths both public and school libraries bring to our communities.
You may view the articles at:
If you choose to take advantage of this opportunity, please contact Allison Cline <acline@ala.org> for permission to re-print details.
I also would love to hear how your state plans to use the articles, so please consider sending me a message <lesliepreddy@hotmail.com> and let me know your experience so I can send feedback to the Interdivisional committee.
If you have suggestions for future partnership projects for the committee, please also send those my way.
Wishing you the best,
Leslie Preddy, 2015-2016 AASL President
