Friends, please share with your members! Thanks! Audrey
Colleagues,
- Our federal legislators’ spring recess begins April 10 and runs through April 21, and I suspect that they will be happy to be out of DC and at home in their states/districts. What better way for them to spend a day than visiting a school library?
- Our Congresswomen/men need to see what happens in effective 21st century school library programs that focus on creativity, innovation, inquiry learning, and digital literacy (in addition to the traditional books and reading that they remember from their childhood).
- April is School Library Month #slm17. Our theme is “Because School Libraries Empower Students.” There is no better time than today to issue that invitation! #Leg2SchLibrary
It seems that 52 Senators/Representatives in the following 13 states have received invitations:
Connecticut
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Kentucky
Maryland
New Jersey
New York
North Carolina
Pennsylvania
Tennessee
Virginia
Washington
*If your state is not listed here, please reach out to your Senators and/or Representative today! If your state is listed, don’t let that hold you back. It would be awesome if they are invited to visit multiple libraries!
*Links to contact information and sample invitations are in the March 17 KQ blog post, “If You Invite a Legislator to the Library” (http://knowledgequest.aasl.org/invite-legislator-library/).
